Dominic Cabusi and Bronte Maree O'Neill are Maari Music. They are working in Composition, Songwriting, Production and Publishing with an emphasis on Sync, Score and Soundtrack Music for Film, Television and Media. This duo compose with a contemporary production style that contrasts depth and grit with shimmering walls of sound. Pairing dark electronic devices with orchestral textures and soaring melodies give bittersweet and melancholy soundscapes; revealing juxtaposing influences in Pop, Punk, Soul and a homage to the romance of Music Theatre. The duo have now worked on several projects that have allowed them to curate both the Soundtrack and Score; giving them the opportunity to create a Soundscape and lyrical palette tailored specifically to the plot, environment and characters of a project. This all encompassing music direction is a specialty and great passion for this duo.
In 2020 they worked on their first Feature Film ‘The Legend of The Five;’ a family fantasy which hit 55 Cinemas Australia wide; including Events Cinemas, Village Cinemas, ShowBiz Cinemas and various Independents before having it's TV Premiere on ABC ME in 2021. The film features the duo's 2 Pop Title Tracks and a Complete Score featuring orchestral, acoustic and electronic production. It is currently available on TVOD across Australia, the US and the UK and has hit cinemas across Aus/NZ, the US, Europe and selected countries in Asia.
The duo have just released their Original Motion Picture Soundtrack for Australian coming of age dance film 'The Red Shoes: Next Step' which has just finished its Australian Cinema run, seeing screenings at over 120 cinemas such as Events, HOYTS, Village and Majestic. This features an electro-acoustic style score and their biggest Soundtrack commission yet of 11 original songs featuring Australian vocalists of various genres. They have also finished work on a two song Soundtrack feature for upcoming Teen Fantasy Feature Film ' The Ninth Order,’ a Score and Title Track for upcoming Short Films; ‘El Sol,’ (Winner of Best GC Short at Gold Coast Film Festival) and ‘Don’t Tell Me You Love Me,’ a score for upcoming Short Film ‘Inner Dialogue,’ as well as the Score, Theme and Credit tracks for upcoming Sci Fi series 'Tofana.' They have also begun freelance work under various Production Houses involving some cue work on an upcoming series and Dominic’s work on an upcoming game and are excited to announce their next feature film commission in the coming months.
Dom and Bronte have also cut their teeth in the world of Sync Music / Publishing, releasing a collaboration with Castle Music under KPM Music (Sony Music Publishing) in 2021. The album 'Earth Songs;' was released in association with the AWC (Australian Wildlife Conservancy) and features four of the duo's original tracks on the compilation of songs inspired by conservation, nature and our connection to this planet.
The duo have also been commissioned to compose and produce several Podcast Introductions ('Child of 98,' ‘The Melting Pot’ 'Let's be Naked' and ‘Sort Ya Life Out’), a Radio show introduction for 'Live from Sydney Road' (SYN FM), a Product Promotion for the BOSS GT1B Bass Pedal and a Wed Series/ Podcast theme for 'Bev's with Sez' (Ampel Media).
Outside of commission work, Dominic Cabusi and Bronte Maree O'Neill write original music under three alias’s showcasing various sonic soundscapes; they are called herana, Neon Phantoms and Puffpuffjigglypuff. Heard in the soundtrack of ‘The Legend of the Five’ herana is a cinematic pop project grounded in magic, melancholy and sweeping sentimentality. This alias will feature heavily in upcoming Feature Film; ‘The Red Shoes: Next Step’ as well as for the Title Track of upcoming Short Film; ‘Don’t Tell Me You love Me.’ Their second alias Neon Phantoms fuses Punk and EDM; delivering edgier sounds of angst, sass and nostalgia. This act has shared the stage with the likes of North East Party House, Wafia & E^st, has received international radio play and has seen Music Videos featured at Sydney Fringe Festival's Clipped TV event, Parramatta Lanes Festival and on MTV's program 'MTV Upload.’ It will also feature in upcoming Sci Fi Series; ‘Tofana’ and Fantasy Feature Film; ‘The Ninth Order.’ Puffpuffjigglypuff is their Indie Pop and Punk project reserved for nostalgia dripped happy songs about sad things. This project will have its debut in upcoming Short Film; ‘El Sol.’
